Sony has hired Mark Palansky to direct action-adventure Iron Jack , says Variety .

The story, set in the 1930s, centers on a renowned novelist and his quest for a legendary treasure.

Palansky’s directing credits include 2006’s Penelope , starring Christina Ricci, Catherine O’Hara and Reese Witherspoon.
